About

LosAngeles based urika’s bedroom, shares new single “XTC” on Mon, Jun 03. First for NYC label True Panther, ub deploys clear-eyed song structuressynthesized with liquid silver and shattered glass. The language of devotionechoes, while bruising alt rock riffs stir a bath of sonic ekstasis. Theself-produced, layered soundscapes place a special emphasis on the weight ofthe lyrics; front-and-center with nowhere to hide.

Guitarin hand, urika’s bedroom moved to Los Angeles in 2018 and began playing invarious genre-fluid bands, leading to fruitful creative relationships andproducing for like-minded artists such as untitled (halo) and Ded Hyatt. Infall 2023, ub invited audiences into an intimate artistic space with “Junkie”– a “glowing, tender debut” (Gorilla vs. Bear) that “sliced through thedigital realm with the essence of existence” (FLAUNT). Shortly after therelease, urika played live for the first time supporting Youth Lagoon and willembark on a tour with Nourished by Time this summer.

Mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, Slowdive) andmastered by Mike Bozzi, “XTC” cocoons with an unfurling ambiance that finds adarkness oscillating on the edges, which sharpen and blur between theoverlapping instrumentation and the chorus. The piercing duality is present inthe accompanying music video, constructed with close visual collaboratorswhispr and Donovan Novotny. Instantly familiar, ub glides across a rurallandscape; punctuated by the abstract motion of The Creature who finds freedomin movement.
